Dotnetnuke is a Opensource Content Management System, CMS. In essence a CMS allows you to update change, add and delete your content as and when you want. Without any special knowledge of HTML or programming any website owner or user can make changes to their website usin DNN.
Basically if you can edit a document using Wordpad, you can edit your site using DNN. You edit your site right from within the comfort of your favourite browser. Wherever you can find a internet connection. No more waiting for, and paying some webmaster to update a link, or add a new paragraph for you.
However, with everything new, there is always a learning curve. The most frustrating thing about any software is not knowing how to perform the simplest tasks. Even though I have been in IT for many years, I still find doing things without any in-depth knowledge very frustrating and time consuming.
We at Integralwebsolutions, host and design and develop Dotnetnuke Content Management Websites. We have clients all over South Africa, and we find that is is getting difficult to offer good training to them over distances. Trying to describe to someone over the telephone how to do a certain task is very difficult.
So we have decided to start developing online flash tutorials that will be able to coach a user through the various functionalities that DNN as a CMS has. These tutorials will start out in a basic fashion and then develop into a more advanced tutorial.
The first in the series can be found at: Editing in the Text/Html module
Enjoy. If there are any other tutorials you would like to see. Please let me know.
