A new twitter search engine is on the market. Created by former Microsoft search head Ken Moss, CrowdEye gives several views of a topic based on the conversations taking place on Twitter, as well as an historical view on that particular topic.
Ken Moss might have left Microsoft, where he was the head of Microsoft's search unit, is still in the search industry. Ken Moss, who led the search engineering team at Microsoft for five years, has spent the last months building CrowdEye.
CrowdEye is a real-time search engine which will allow users to better mine Twitter to get on top of any hot topics. It also aims to give you the ability to track your favourite topic. CrowdEye, which went into public beta on Thursday, gives you the latest tweets on any given or searched topic. Another cool feature is a list of the most popular links on a topic and a tag cloud of associated terms.
Real time searching is the next big thing in the search industry. Searching Twitter is excellent for finding the latest news or gossip. Not only will you benefit from finding the latest news, but what about the latest viral video, or perhaps you are battling with a software bug, see if others are tweeting about it.
CrowdEye is not the only real time search engine. Twitter has its own search engine, while others such as Topsy and OneRiot, are also mining the twitterverse.
CrowdEye has a three day historical view that allows one to see how the discussion on a topic has played out.
Moss who is working on CrowdEye with only one other co-worker, none other than his wife, Becca Moss. Becca is also a former Microsoft employee.
Below is a screen capture of CrowdEye with the search term “Iran”.
Let the search wars begin. With the new Bing search engine from Microsoft, and Google frantically moving to better their service, searching the net has become a whole lot more interesting.

Amazing the things people will come up with. Never really saw Twitter as a service that you will need to do a search on. Proof I was wrong. Strange that Google never came up with the idea. Next thing we need is a huge shake - up in the Google Ads department. PS. I hope you feel better now and can enjoy the weekend. By Rustig on

Yes, we live in interesting times. Next I will be looking at two similar services Topsy and Collecta.

I personally do not like Twitter and thinks it is a waste of time. BUT if I look at the functionality of CrowdEye it seems as if Twitter can have a use after all. I think this is a great way to identify a new or hot niche By Pieter on
