Lets face it, the internet is here to stay. You cant get away from it. More people are using the internet than ever. Even in South Africa we are seeing an internet usage boom. If you company is not on the internet today then you are surely going to loose potential clients and or leads. Would it be fair to say that you business on its journey down the long and winding road of death.
The South African consumer behaviour levels have significantly increased. Overall, the online audience has become more male-centric and slightly older.
Nielsen Online, a service of The Nielsen Company, Revealed how the South African Internet user fared across 2008 in terms of consumer behaviour, how the audience changed.
Levels of Consumer Behaviour
- The number of South African Unique Users and pages viewed have both increased by 25% from December 2007 through to December 2008
- Of all the metrics measuring levels of consumer behaviour online, the total time spent on the internet has increased by a massive 45%, from 2.6 million hours to 3.8 million hours
Andrew Felbert, Nielsen Online, says, “It’s a simple fact that not only are there more people online in South Africa, but they’re spending more time online and viewing more content. Companies and advertisers wishing to get their products and services in front of consumers can no longer ignore the power of the Internet as a major route to making this happen.”
