Link juice is the fuel that drives the internet. It is the democratic voting system of any website or blog. It shows how important your site is. If people like it they will link to it. Inbound or backward linking is so important that Google have developed a rating system called PageRank. The higher the PageRank, the more people like your site, and the more important it seems to be.
There are all sorts of schemes and methods that promise back links. Some are valid and legal, while others are considered black hat by Google
People will beg, buy, borrow and steal link juice. But what if you could get it for free? Well sort of, you have to add some value first. A fantastic idea came across my blog in a recent blog post comment. A new site called LinkDare.
What is LinkDare?
LinkDare was started by Leighann Garber, or @chompermom as she is known on Twitter. Leighann is a regular reader and commenter on my blog. So when she mentioned this in a comment, I was intrigued. Looking at the site and the idea I must say that I am a bit angry. Why did I not think of that first. A fantastic idea I think.
From the LinkDare Site: "On Link Dare, you can accept dares in exchange for showing a link to your website, blog, or social networking account. You can link to your favourite sports team, or charity, or your friend’s account. You can earn your 15 seconds of fame by accepting or suggesting dares. Members can suggest new dares to challenge each other, and can vote on the funniest, daringest, and most offbeat challenges and takers. You can use Link Dare to get traffic to your website, to raise money for your charity, or to add friends to your myspace, twitter, facebook, youtube account, etc.
What would you do for free advertising for your business, blog, or favorite charity? Would you post a photo of yourself? A video? Would you run down mainstreet in a tutu? How about sing a song? Tell a joke? Do your best Elvis Presley impersonation? On Link Dare, we’re looking for daring, outrageous people who want to tell the world about their favorite website. So if that’s you, come on in, and accept a challenge. Dare you!"
Why I like it.
The reason why I like LinkDare is that you just don't get free worthless links. In order to get a link from LinkDare, you have to add value to the site. It's what networking is all about. You scratch my back I scratch yours. LinkDare is all about doing some crazy things. You can do dares and crazy things in order to get link backs in a variety of ways.

Take up the Dare.

As an added bonus, the best ad or article or video, or basically the best dare resulting from this post, voted by Leighann will also win a free week 125X125 ad space on my blog, this one, The Brave Programmer. How is that for a dare?
