Everybody can blog, but perhaps blogging is not for everyone. Is that true? I see so many new bloggers start with great expectations, but soon give up. Their blogs seem to die a horrible slow death after only having life for a few months.
When Young bloggers take on this new medium they are all filled with enthusiasm and passion, but soon that dwindles down to nothing. It seems that giving up is the easiest thing to do. Thousands of new blogs are started every month and thousands upon thousands are neglected and closed down each month.
Should you actually give up blogging. Well here are a few reasons for you to consider.
- No recent updates - Your last update was just after the invention of the printing press. Since then the world has changed but your blog has remained the same. No new content for months. It's old and tired.
- Too much criticism - Your last 10 updates you critisised every blogger you read. You wonder why no one likes you.
- Only your mother comments - The only person that ever comments on your blog is you mother. All her comments revolve around when you're coming to visit.
- Horrendous Colours - Your blog design hurts the eyes. Your colour scheme is terrible.
- No Navigation - No one can find their way around your blog. It's confusing. No menu or site structure visible.
- No theme - You blog about everything and anything. There is no real topic or theme to your blog.
- No credibility - You have not built up any credibility, because you blog about every possible topic known to man. No one can figure you out.
How are you doing so far? How many of the above points apply to you? Should you then give up blogging? NO WAY. The point of this post is to draw your attention to things that could be stifling or killing your blog. The idea is to provide you with food for thought. You now have enough knowledge to change.
Don't just sit there wondering why your blog is not working. Take the points above and make an effort to change them. Create good quality content. Update your blog frequently. Find your niche. Change the theme of your blog. Develop some commitment, be persistent.
On a more humorus note here are another 7 reason to give up blogging:
-
Your Alexa ranking is so high it is notated in scientific notation. 1.66x1023
-
You are ranked #1 on Google for the term "Worst Blog"
-
Darren Rowse mentioned your blog in a post entitled "How not to blog"
-
Your Technorati rank has 12 figures in it.
-
Your blog is so bad, you don't even get spammed
-
You have as much enthusiasm and passion as a pregnant amoeba.
-
The only link you get is when you hang your gold chain on your monitor.
