Who are your favourite bloggers? – Lets give the little guys some recognition

I was watching the Oscars and just being wowed at some of the achievements made in the film industry. It then occurred to me that we should have an Oscars for the blog industry.
But in many countries around the world they already have something similar. Blog awards. Where your blog is voted upon in various categories.
Big blogs get the most mention
Problem is that 9 times out of 10 the bigger blogs win all the prizes. That’s probably because they have more traffic, more readers and a wider reach.
Not to say that there aren't any other smaller types of blogs that are just as good.
So, if you are a small blog, such as I mentioned above, then how do you get recognised? How do you get to a stage where you can at least contend for an award?
Well, it takes hard work and lots of time. There has been a lot written on how to build blog traffic, how to build readership and a community. But it still takes hard work, dedication and lots of time.
Just one break
Many times small blogs get one big break that catapults them into the limelight. That break can come in the form of a mention from another blogger.
The point is that a lot of the smaller blogs often deserve a bit of a mention. Often times, even though you work as hard as you can, we need a little help from others.
It is a blogging community after all. Are we not here to help each other out. Perhaps I am mistaken, perhaps the blogging community is just about me and how I can take advantage of others.
I would hope that that is wrong. I would rather believe that we can and do help each other out.
Lets mention the little guy
To that end, I would like you guys, my readers, to help another blogger out. Why not give them a mention somewhere. Plug and promote their blog.
You can do it on your blog in a post. You can do it via a few tweets on twitter. You can do it in the comments below.
That's right, what I would like to do is take this opportunity to promote the little guys and gals. In the comments below why not mention a favourite small blog of yours. Leave his or her link in the comment. Obviously I will have to authenticate the link first.
Then email them or send them a tweet or Dm or a facebook message letting them know about the link and mention. I am sure it will make their day.
