Google recently opened up a preview of their new Caffeine update. For the last several months, a large team of Googlers have been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google's web search.
The new Google Caffeine does not look any different than the current Google search. That's because, according to Matt Cutts, the new infrastructure sits "under the hood" of Google's search engine. "Web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we're opening up a web developer preview to collect feedback." Read the rest of what Matt Cutts has to say about Caffeine on his Blog.
There is nothing different on the surface about the new Google Caffeine Search Engine. But one can tell that there is something different under the hood of Caffeine. Do a few searches, and you will see that the search results return a little bit faster on Google Caffeine than on the current Google system. Also notice that the Search Results might be slightly different.
This is because there are changes under the hood of Google Caffeine. One of the changes is obviously that Caffeine has better indexing and better retrieval, as well as new algorithms for ranking and determining search results.
This might play havoc for SEO professionals who for years have been trying to beat the system in getting their clients sites to the top spot of Google ans other search engines. So for now, enjoy your number 1 spot and your first page list on Google,as that might change.
Right now, Google only want feedback on the differences between Google's current search results and our new Caffeine system. Here's how you can give Google feedback: Do a search at http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ and look on the search results page for a link at the bottom of the page that says "Dissatisfied? Help us improve." Click on that link, type your feedback in the text box and then include the word Caffeine somewhere in the text box.
Check out a detailed test at Mashable.
Go to http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ and do a search. Let me know what your thoughts are. Do you see any improvements in search speed and results. Leave a comment on your findings.
