SEO! Are you quivering in your boots yet. Strangely a term that sends shivers down some peoples spines. A term that strikes fear into the hearts of many. SEO a term that some hate and some never consider.
This is mostly due to ignorance and lack of skills. SEO is not SCI-FI and is not the exclusive domain of a select few. You too can perform some really top notch SEO on your blog or Website
All you need is some education and access to some of the tools that the pros use. This is part 1 of a series on SEO tools and resources. We are going to start off with Firefox add-ons. Firefox is a brilliant browser isn’t it. I don’t know if Firefox is officially the browser of SEO’s, but if not – it should be. You can download it at Mozilla.com.
I believe SEO is important even for bloggers. If not just for the information that you can acquire. With these tools you will be amazed as to what you can learn, about your own blogging style as well as other bloggers. Find out how they manage to get large amounts of organic search engine traffic.
SEO Quake – This is a fantastic tool. Aimed at helping web masters who deal with search engine optimization and internet promotion of web sites. Seoquake allows users to obtain and investigate many important SEO parameters of the internet project under study on the fly.
Within seconds you can find out information on all the PageRank, indexed page numbers, back links to that page, domain back links, the age of the site, keyword Density, whois info, and much more.
Check out their SEOQuake guide
SEO for Firefox – Another Firefox extension, provided by SEO Book, This tool provides similar data to SEO Quake. With some added extra features. Including page rank, cache date, traffic data, linkage data, age, source, directory listings and more
It is claimed that more than 130,000 webmasters use this tool. An excellent SEO Resource.
Quirk Search Status - This is another great toolbar that displays SEO data for a page or site through a context menu that sits on the Firefox status bar.
This SEO tool normally just displays PageRank, Alexa and Compete rank and mozRank data. Right-click of the icon and you get access to a whole bunch of additional information. Many of which are included in the other Firefox add-on tools. Things like, fast links to whois, the robots and sitemap files, keyword density information, Archive.org info.
One thing I like about it and use a lot of is, it allows you to highlight NoFollow links. A handy little SEO tool I must say.
Web Developers Toolbar – Without a doubt this is a fantastic must have. Web Developer’s tool bar probably will become one of the best plug-ins You’ve ever seen. It comes with it’s own tool bar that gives many useful tools for analyzing, validating and optimizing web-pages.
But beware it can get very technical. It allows for quick testing and viewing of a site’s structure including, image info, table and cell information, W3C compliance, CSS details and MUCH, MUCH more
Impossible to list all the functionality. You will just have to check it out yourself. But I highly recommend it.
SenSEO - SenSEO analyzes web pages and tells you how good they fulfil on-page Search Engine optimization criteria. SenSEO is a Firefox add-on integrated with the popular Firebug web development tool. SenSEO is based on the YSlow extension.
SEO Blogger – By Wordtracker labs. Whether you blog about business, politics or the hot topic of the moment, SEO Blogger allows you to find the most sought-after keywords for your subject without ever leaving your blog editing screen. The SEO tool sits alongside whatever blog publishing software you're using so you can do keyword research and optimize your posts as you write.
You can do live online keyword research. Compare Keywords instantly to see which carries the most SEO weight. Automatically track how many times you use a particular keyword in your blog. A great tool for keyword research.
KGen - Another SEO tool which allows you to do keyword research. See which keywords are highly received by the SEs on any website you’re on, so you can optimize those KWs for your site.
Niche Watch Tool - Outrank your competitor by researching technical data needed to optimize for higher rankings. A very handy tool in you SEO box of goodies.
Conclusion.
I use most, if not all, of these tools on a daily basis. There is a lot of crossover functionality, so you can choose to install all the plug-ins or only the ones you think will suite you best.
Just because you do not know much about SEO does not mean you can’t learn. With these tools, any blogger can make SEO a walk in the park.
