So Brain what are we doing today? Same thing we do every day Pinky, try to take over the world!
Wow, that brings back the past, and perhaps shows my age. Nonetheless is that not our manta as bloggers, we are trying to take over the blogging world. We want to dominate the blogging world. How are we to achieve that is the million dollar question?
The only way to take over the world is to amass a gigantic army who will do your bidding and give their lives for the cause. For bloggers that has to be loyal readers and followers.

Building up your followers.
The key to taking over the world is having an army to do so. Well not so much taking over the world, but taking control of your little blogging world, however small or large that might be.
Like any army, you have to have committed dedicated soldiers. That comes in the way of readers and followers.
Building up loyal readers and followers is often times a difficult, time consuming task. But has to be done. Interaction is the key here. Stretching forth your hand to offer help to others will win their respect and following.
It takes time to build up a solid following. Using Social Media tools like Twitter, Facebook, Friendfeed, Blogengage is one way of building up that following. Believe me, it takes A LOT of time. But if you’re willing to put the effort into it, it won’t be long before you’re reaping the rewards. Here’s just a few things to consider:
- gain respect, credibility & recognition
- share your talents and get discovered
- strengthen your personal and professional brand
- find ways to help others
- uncover great opportunities to interact with others.
- develop strategic partnerships
- gain support for your cause
- make new friends with common interests
Interact with your readers.
There has been a great debate floating around in cyberspace. The gist of the topic is interacting with your readers and commenters. I don’t care what others might think but my view is that interaction is paramount to your blogging success.
This is the theme of this intense debate circling. Many readers agree, interact as much as you can with your readers. Show them some level of care. Be thankful for them. Treat them with great respect. When you show respect to someone they will do some amazing things for you.
Participate in the blogosphere.
If you do not make yourself known, how are you going to gain a loyal following? Participation here is another gear in the taking over the blogging world engine. It is another strategy for your blogging army.
Get involved with other blogs, don’t just concentrate on your own.
Here are some ways in which you can participate:
- Participate in blog carnivals.
- Visit and comment on other blogs related to yours
- Respond to comments
- Write guest posts.
- Join social bookmarking websites such as Digg, Stumble Upon, Delicious and others.
- Write useful and informative content.
- Invite your readers to participate in challenges.
- Promote your blog through blog communities such as MyBlogLog, Blogengage and others.
Become a Guru at what you do.
Become a respected leader in your field. Take time to build up a valuable and respected reputation. No one wants to follow a dead beat. But people who stand out are the leaders in their field. They are the ones who have the knowledge. The ones who others turn to for help.
There is a reason why Pinky follows Brain. Become the brain in your niche.
This does not happen overnight. It takes time, blood, sweat and tears. But in the end, you won’t be begging for followers, people will be flocking to follow you. Their guru in their niche.
Here are five keys to leadership.
- A leader plans.
- A leader has a vision.
- A leader shares their vision.
- A leader takes charge.
- A leader inspires through example.
Have clear and focused goals.
People won’t follow you if you do not know where you are going. Make sure you are very well focused. Have clear and concise goals. Stay on track.
Here are a few things to consider.
- Be clear about what you are doing.
- Be clear about why you are doing it.
- Set a plan of action.
- Organise, review, re-organise again, and repeat.
- Act like it's already your reality
What about you.
So what have you done to amass your following? How have you gone about taking over the blogging world? Do you actually care?
