Scottish singing sensation Susan Boyle, who catapulted to stardom through YouTube video singing “I Dreamed A Dream" from the musical Les Miserables was voted through to the finals of Britain's Got Talent.
In the semi-finals on Sunday, Susan Boyle gave a live television performance of "Memory" from the musical Cats, wowing the audience and winning a public vote to go through to next Saturday's final.
Susan Boyle's performance once again received a standing ovation. All three judges were standing applauding. The performance made Amanda cry, Piers said it was excellent.
Thus far Susan Boyle has proven many people wrong by making it through to the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent. Susan Boyle has proven that she is not just a “One Hit Wonder”. Many have wondered if Susan Boyle could sustain the public interest as well as the interest of the judges. Well, surprise surprise, she has.
Where to now? Well she has to be the favourite to win the contest, and to go on to become a super star. Book makers now set Susan Boyle to be a runaway favourite to win the final on May 30.
Sara Lee, a spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent said that Susan Boyle's performance on Sunday should be available almost instantly on the Internet. This will allow her international fans a chance to watch the her latest performance. Should she win, Susan Boyle will have opportunity to perform for the Queen.
The bet, now, is not so much on whether Susan Boyle will win or not, but what song Susan Boyle will sing in the finals. Boyle refused to comment on what song she will perform.
The winner of Britain's Got Talent will perform at the Royal Variety Performance before Queen Elizabeth II later this year, and take home a £100,000 (€115,000, $160,000, R1 280 000) cheque. Not bad for a so called washed out Scottish lass.
The search is on for South Africa's Got Talent.
SABC 2 has secured the rights to one of the world's hottest TV properties — the talent search contest called 'Got Talent'. The local show 'SA's Got Talent', which will premiere on 13 August, calls for "any age, any act" — from singers, dancers and comedians to variety acts, animal trainers and acrobats.
People will compete for the top prize of R250 000, not quite the $160 000, and the opportunity to perform at the new President's Command Performance later this year. Do we have a “Susan Boyle” amongst us?
